Securing funds for a project can be difficult, especially for those just starting out with limited financial resources. Fortunately, there are few business challenges that can’t be overcome with persistence, confidence, a solid network, technology and access to the right information.
Tech Is The New “Bag”
One area of tangible value that is often underappreciated is technology. It's increasingly commonplace to use a number of popular timesaving and money saving software services and apps. A few of the software tools I use in my workflows are Fiverr, Canva, Upwork, Quickbooks Online, Airtable and Calendly. Though these tools certainly help cut down costs for businesses, they still consume more time and mental energy than you may have as a small business owner who is juggling many professional and personal responsibilities. The other challenge is that at some point, their is the dreaded "you have hit your limit and need to upgrade" message!
Enter CHATGPT's AI software which arrived on the scene with a blast last December. It's a controversial artificial intelligence software, but potentially revolutionary in its potential to save businesses hours each week and cost savings. The software is also probematic and has the potential to put many business owners out of business and eliminate jobs, which we covered in a IG Live last year, but that's a conversation for a future post.
For now, let's explore what makes this program so compelling for many business owners.
"I embrace change and work to build my knowledge to use tools that accelerate and strengthen my capabilities. I use ChatGPT to search for information and resources that are important for business development, content brainstorming, and to share with my audience. It is a game changer." - Patricia Wicks, CEO, PATHworks!
What Is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a new chatbot that is changing the game for solopreneurs. It’s a free software that uses artificial intelligence and language capabilities to allow you to type in your specific questions (prompts) and gives you responses in a conversational manner.
You essentially have a digital conversation with the Chatbot, enabling you to ask follow-up questions and adjust your prompts for more precise responses. Because it is a newer technology, there are many imperfections and risks, including getting incorrect and/or biased results, content plagarized from other businesses and individuals and nonsensical responses.
"Artificial intelligence is developing at a concerning rate and the best way for me to feel as if I have some semblance of agency in its development is to take advantage of its capabilities in my endeavors. I have used large language models and image synthesis models like Chat-GPT and Dall-E for brainstorming, conceptual mockups, branding, coding assistance, and technical writing." - Michael Bussey, President, MAB Studios LLC
Some money and time saving uses for the technology:
- Coding – websites
- Creating images – product mockups, logos, social media
- Business writing – grants, cover letters, resumes
- Market research – business plans, pitch decks,
- Literature search – book summaries, key points, quotes
- Content creation – blog and social media posts, polls, video transcription
Need to see it to believe it? We got you! Watch our April livestream demonstrations of ChatGPT, Dall-e and MidJourney to get a taste of the tech.
In the interim, I encourage you check out some artificial intelligence applications via ChatGPT, Canva Docs/Magic Write, Google's BARD and Copy.Ai.
